Generalist ais do not favor or only slightly favor 1 kind of attack unit per factory over another and are not as particular about the kinds of base defenses they build -- this in theory makes them better than specialist ais on maps too different from what the specialist ais were designed for.

Specialist ais heavily favor certain units over others and often build only limited types of base defenses. A good example of this would be a pure flash-rushing ai. They are at their best on only a limited number of map types, so to support all map types there must be vastly different ai profiles for each map type. This can cause the ai to behave particularly poorly if used on a map which specifies a poor ai profile choice. (Such as an all-water map that uses the Default.txt ai profile.)

Ai ratings from best to worst:
-----------------------------
Insane Ai	(best)
Shonner v1.4 ai
Mostly Harmless ai
Da Borg! ai
BSRAI
Cavedog ai
Never Again ai
Demon AI	(worst)

BSRAI:
-----
builds junk units:	LLTs, ALL 6 post-v3.1 units
Too many factories + c-units for income!
Poor early defenses and AA.

Best side:	unchecked, but probably Arm

This ai desperately needs 500 unit max or higher and 10k/10k starting resources or higher.

This generalist ai is designed for land maps and supposedly Air Battle maps, but is best on an all-metal land map.

Overall a poor ai that is only marginally stronger than Cavedog's ai for attack but considerably better at long-game defense.

Da Borg! ai:
-----------
builds junk units:	Immolator, Flea, Ak, Crawling Bomb, mm

Bases unable to deal with reasonable (swarms) attack force sizes.
Good Core Level 2 Kbot mix.

Reasonably low limits on basically everything.
No early attack? (I saw none...)
Slow at getting c-units out and fusions built.

Best side:	unchecked, but probably Arm

Best if started with 1k/1k.
500 unit max is helpful but unneccessary.

This is a well-rounded ai made up of multiple ai profiles so as to be decent on a variety of maps.

Overall a poor to ok ai, but a lot better than Cavedog's.

Demon AI:
--------
LOTS of junk units:	LLTs, Radars, Minelayers, Landmines, Crawling Bombs, Peepers, Fleas
unfireable silos - EMP, Neutron, antinnuke, nuke, Scarab, Hedgehog
Excessive MMs and MMMs!
Too many factories + c-units for income!
Inadequate AA, but overkill on ground defense
Builds multiple targeting facilities!

Best side:	Arm

This ai desperately needs 500 unit max or higher and 10k/10k starting resources or higher.

This ai is a generalist ai which supposedly works on almost any kind of map, although it does far worse on Sea Battle style maps such as GoW.

Overall a horrible ai that manages to be WORSE than Cavedog's ai on many maps.

Insane Ai:
---------
Very light defenses consisting of MTs and later a couple Annihilators and Berthas.
Builds useless units:	Advanced Radars and Bombers
Limits are TOO high on c-units, storages, and factories.
Too many factories + c-units for income!

Creates huge unit swarms quickly.

Best side:	Core by far

A specialist ai made exclusively for large land maps like Painted Desert, Comet Catcher, Greenhaven, Plains and Passes, and Yerrot Mountains

Overall FAR stronger than Cavedog's ai -- among the strongest nonhacked/noncheating ais there are.

Mostly Harmless ai:
------------------
Too many factories + c-units for income!
Inadequate early AA

Best side:	Core by quite a bit

Best if started with 1k/1k.
500 unit max is helpful but unneccessary.

This is a well-rounded specialist ai made up of multiple ai profiles so as to be decent on a variety of maps.
However, it fails miserably in this regard on Air, Acid, and Urban maps.

Overall a good ai that is considerably stronger than Cavedog's ai.

Never Again ai:
--------------
LOTS of junk units:	LLTs, Radars, Minelayers, Landmines, Crawling Bombs, Peepers, Winds, Levelers, Weasals, Bombers, Peewees, Aks, scout hovers, Vulcans, Buzzsaws, Moho mines, ALL 6 post-v3.1 units
unfireable silos - EMP, Neutron, antinnuke, nuke, Scarab, Hedgehog
Excessive MMs and MMMs!
Too many factories + c-units for income!
Inadequate AA
Builds multiple targeting facilities!

Best side:	Core by a bit

This ai is more challenging with 500 unit max or higher and 10k/10k starting resources or higher.

This ai is a generalist ai which supposedly works on almost metal or land maps without water (or very little).

Overall a horrible ai that manages to be only a little better than Cavedog's ai -- till it builds lots of landmines that it cannot afford energy-wise to keep cloaked, then it becomes progressively more crippled and easy to beat despite its slowly-growing base size.

Shonner v1.4 ai:
---------------
LOTS of junk units:	Awacs, mobile radars, moho mines, Immolators, Winds
Inadequate AA
Very unpredictable economy -- 1 game it may do excellent, next game it may do terrible -- despite NOT getting its base heavily attacked in both cases.

Best side:	Arm by a lot

Too-high unit limits make 500 unit max (or higher!) basically a requirement for the ai to work properly.
May be best with 10k/10k reesources, but 10k/10k isn't required.

This ai is a specialist ai which works well on LARGE metal or land maps without water (or very little).

Overall a good ai that is considerably stronger than Cavedog's ai.
